 Information Sheet for Prospective Members

What is the BETA CLUB?

The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills.

Who qualifies for membership in the BCMS JUNIOR BETA CLUB?

Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who have a 92 average (9-weeks grades), who exemplify strong character, and who have maintained role model behavior throughout the school year (no in-school or out-of-school suspensions) are eligible to apply for membership in the Battle Creek Jr. Beta Club.

What are the requirements of membership?

Each member must attend at least two-thirds of our monthly meetings and participate in at least one club service project. Five hours of service are required per semester.  Students are strongly encouraged to participate in as many projects as possible since this is the key to leadership development within our organization.

What are the dues for members?

There is a one-time fee of $30 collected prior to induction. This includes a $15 national induction fee and $15 local dues. Local dues are payable at the beginning of each year of membership and are used to pay for club expenses during the year.  You may wish to explore the National Beta Club website at www.betaclub.org to learn more about the benefits that are included in the induction fee.

How do I apply for membership?

If you meet the academic and behavior requirements, and you desire to fulfill the Beta Club participation and service requirements, complete the application form and return it to Mrs. Mensinger in the library.

How will I know I have been accepted into the Beta Club?

Invitations for accepted students will be distributed within the two weeks if returning
