Attendance is one of key factors in student achievement at school.  Please take time to review the attendance policies and procedures listed below.

ABSENCES: Absences are to be classified as either excused or unexcused.  Excused absences shall include:

  1. Personal illness
  2. Illness of immediate family member
  3. Death in the family
  4. Extreme weather conditions
  5. Religious observances 
  6. Circumstances, which in the judgment of the principal create emergencies over which the student has no control.

*Preferably notes pertaining to illness would be issued by a physician.
**Notes will only be excused if received within three (3) days of the student returning to school.  Physicians or court statements are the only notes to be accepted after three (3)days.

Maury County Public Schools Progressive Truancy Intervention Plan
3 unexcused absences: Parent Contact by the school (teacher, counselor, clerk, etc)
5 unexcused absences: Tier I of the Progressive Truancy Intervention Plan: Letter sent to parent & Student placed under Attendance contract
Additional unexcused absences: Tier II of the Progressive Truancy Plan:
Grade level and student specific to address student's attendance
Additional Unexcused absences: Tier III of the Progressive Truancy Plan:
